3M: plans to double respiration mask capacity

(CercleFinance.com) - 3M is doubling its production capacity of N95 respiration masks, which are specifically demanded by healthcare workers since the coronavirus epidemic began.


The US conglomerate said it has made additional investments and implemented measures that will enable it to double its capacity once again, to 2 billion units globally within the next 12 months.

Some of that additional capacity will begin to come online in the next 60-90 days, the group said.

Beginning in January, 3M has ramped up to maximise its production of N95 respirators, doubling its output to 1.1 billion units per year, or about 100 million per month.

3M has also committed to combating price gouging, fraud and counterfeit activity in connection with its products and the COVID-19 outbreak, saying that it will "aggressively pursue" those who seek to "take advantage" of the crisis.
