3M: names new chief operating officer.

(CercleFinance.com) - 3M on Tuesday named Michael Roman chief operating officer and Hak Cheol Shin vice chair and executive vice president.


In his new role, Roman will have responsibility for 3M's five business groups, along with the company's international operations.

Meanwhile, Shin will lead functional teams such as research & development, strategy and business development, supply chain operations and information technology.

Both will report directly to Inge Thulin, the company's board chairman and chief executive officer.

3M also said today that the board of directors has waived the mandatory retirement age of 65 years for Thulin.
