Pfizer: EMA to evaluate Covid vaccine from age 5

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced yesterday that it is beginning to evaluate the application to extend the use of Comirnaty, Pfizer/BioNTech's Covid vaccine, to children aged 5 to 11 years old.


Comirnaty is currently used in people aged 12 and over.

The EMA's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) will review data on the vaccine, including an ongoing clinical study involving children aged 5-11 years, to decide whether to recommend an extension of its use.
The CHMP's opinion will then be forwarded to the European Commission, which will make a final decision.

The EMA will report on the outcome of its assessment in a few months, unless further information is needed.

After closing down about 0.4%, the Pfizer share is up in similar proportions in pre-market trading today.
