Pfizer: FDA approves drug for bone marrow cancer

(CercleFinance.com) - US health regulators approved Pfizer's Daurismo for adult patients with newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia, a rapidly progressing bone marrow cancer with low survival rates, for which intensive chemotherapy is not an option.


The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the once-daily oral medicine for the treatment of adult patients who are 75 years old or above, or who have comorbidities that preclude use of intensive induction chemotherapy.

Daurismo has to be taken in combination with low-dose cytarabine, a type of chemotherapy.
