Microsoft: partnership with Thales Alenia Space

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), has announced its collaboration with Microsoft to explore the development of new capabilities in space computing and geospatial observation tools.


To this end, both companies will demonstrate and validate in-orbit computing technologies and capabilities aboard the International Space Station in 2023, to create new applications for processing climate data in orbit.

Thales Alenia Space will work with Microsoft Research in the areas of remote sensing, computer vision and climatology to demonstrate the potential of next-generation onboard computing for Earth observation.

As the news is digested, Thales shares are up about 0.5%, while, after closing up almost 2% yesterday, Microsoft shares are pretty flat in pre-market trading today.
