Merck: acquires US rights to dog parasite drugs

(CercleFinance.com) - Merck said that it has signed a definitive agreement under which its animal health unit would acquire the US rights to Virbac's parasiticides for dogs.


The US biopharmaceutical company said it will make a cash payment of approximately 400 million dollars to acquire the Sentinel branded products, which control common intestinal parasites for dogs, from the French veterinary pharmaceutical firm.

The deal is expected to be closed by the mid-year 2020.

Earlier this year Merck announced that it would spin off its women's-health and cholesterol businesses to focus on its faster-growing cancer drugs, vaccines and animal-health units.
