McDonald's: sales drop by less in May
(CercleFinance.com) - McDonald's US comparable sales declined further in May, although their decline from April was nearly halved, confirming the scenario of a gradual economic recovery.
The world's leading restaurant chain in terms of sales reported that its total same-store sales fell by 20.9% last month.
In comparison, sales in restaurants that had been open for at least 13 months fell by 39% in April.
In the US, the fast-food giant reported that its sales on a like-for-like basis limited their decline to 5.1%, while its international sales fell by over 40%.
In its press release, McDonald's states that 95% of its restaurants around the world have now reopened.
Its share was up 1.3% in early trading after these figures.
