Mastercard: extends partnership with fintech TransferWise

(CercleFinance.com) - Mastercard announced on Thursday that it will extend the scope of its partnership with the money transfer "fintech" company TransferWise.


The agreement aims to facilitate card issuance in all markets where Mastercard is accepted and where TransferWise is an authorised company, said the world's second largest payment card company.

Mastercard had partnered with the London-based start-up created in 2011 when it launched its first debit card in Europe in 2018.

TransferWise, whose major shareholders include Richard Branson and Max Levchin (PayPal), has since issued over one million Mastercard cards around the world.

Over eight million people now use TransferWise.
