Estée Lauder: could be taken over.

(CercleFinance.com) - US cosmetics maker Estée Lauder appears to be studying alternatives for its future, including its takeover by another group, according to Jefferies, which quotes the British newspaper, The Sunday Times.


The broker said that although it could not check the article, over recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation that potential buyers have expressed interest in the group.

Jefferies reports that, according to the newspaper, discussions have progressed up to the point of talking about price, and that its article cites the French giant L'Oréal as the main candidate at a price of 123 dollars per share.

As an indication, such a price would imply a premium of 15.5% compared to Estée Lauder's closing price on Friday evening, which would equate to a market capitalization of around 45 billion dollars.
