Johnson & Johnson: research collaboration in Singapore
(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson said that it will collaborate with the Singapore National Eye Centre and the Singapore Eye Research Institute to conduct research into myopia.
The public-private strategic partnership will focus on developing predictive tools to identify those who may be at risk, and develop new therapies.
J&J will make a 15.8 million dollar investment as part of this deal - comprising cash and in-kind contributions - while Singapore's investment will amount to 10.5 million dollars.
By 2050, half of the world's population are projected to be myopic, with one billion expected to have a high level of myopia, with East Asia and Singapore expected to be the most affected.
