Johnson & Johnson: to buy all of Japan's Ci:z

(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson has agreed to buy all of Japan's Ci:z Holdings that it does not already own for approximately 2 billion dollars, the US health giant said on Tuesday.

J&J said it plans to launch an all-cash offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Ci:z for 5,900 yen per share, compared to a share price of 3,800 yen at the stock market close on Tuesday.

The acquisition will include Ci:z's range of brands, comprising Dr.Ci:Labo, Labo Labo and Genomer line of skincare products, the company said.

The Company's skincare portfolio is expected to strengthen Johnson & Johnson's market presence in Japan with key customers.

In July 2016, the Johnson & Johnson unit Cilag entered into a long-term strategic collaboration with Ci:z to distribute the company's brands outside Japan.

As part of this collaboration, Cilag acquired approximately 19.9% of the company's shares.
