JPMorgan: CEO Dimon recovering after aortic dissection

(CercleFinance.com) - JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Jamie Dimon is recovering from a cardiovascular event that resulted in him undergoing emergency heart surgery on Thursday, the US investment bank said on Friday.


In a message sent to employees, JPMorgan Chase co-COOs Daniel Pinto and Gordon Smith said Dimon has experienced an acute aortic dissection, a serious condition in which the inner layer of the aorta tears.

Dimon, aged 63, underwent successful emergency heart surgery to repair the dissection which "was caught early," and he is now awake, alert and recovering well, they said.

The two co-COOs have been asked to lead the company over this period, as he recovers.
