IBM: sales pick up again

(CercleFinance.com) - 6 years! Yes, it's taken 6 years for IBM to announce an increase in its quarterly revenues.

The US IT giant reported Q4 revenue of 22.54 billion dollars, up 3.6% relative to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, analysts were expecting revenues of 22.06 billion dollars.
In particular, IBM saw revenue from its Cloud division climb 27% to 5.5 billion dollars, with the group posting adjusted EPS of 5.18 dollars, just one cent higher than the consensus.

Including extraordinary items, IBM posted a loss of 1.05 billion dollars, or 1.14 dollar per share, compared to a 4.5 billion dollar profit, or 4.72 dollars per share in Q4 2016. This is due to an extraordinary charge of 5.5 billion dollars related to the tax reform, suggesting a tax rate of 124% over the quarter and 49% over 2017, Aurel BGC said.
