Intel: unveils new chip for 5G networks
(CercleFinance.com) - Intel on Monday announced a new generation of chips, including the launch of the new Atom, a 10nm system-on-a-chip (SoC) that has been specifically designed for 5G networks.
The Atom P5900 platform - Intel's first architecture-based 10nm SoC for wireless base stations - has been designed to meet 5G needs, such as high bandwidth and low latency, the chipmaker said.
Intel said it now expects to become the biggest silicon provider in base stations by 2021, a market that is expected to grow to 6 million 5G base stations through 2024.
