General Motors: sharp recovery in SUV sales

(CercleFinance.com) - General Motors announced that it sold 665,192 vehicles in the third quarter of 2020, down almost 10% y-o-y.

However, the period was marked by a gradual upturn in demand, with a surge in September, with sales even above their level in September 2019.

The SUV segment was particularly buoyant, with sales of the Chevrolet Blazer (+45%), Cadillac XT6 (+45%) and Buick Envision (+44%) up sharply compared to the third quarter of 2019.

In addition to SUVs, crossover models are also gaining ground. Between Q2 and Q3, sales of Trailblazer and Encore GX increased by 54% and 73% respectively. Both vehicles captured 11% retail market share in the third quarter.
