GM: to partner with Honda on next-generation battery
(CercleFinance.com) - US auto giant General Motors will team up with Japanese rival Honda to develop new advanced chemistry battery components, and accelerate plans for all-electric vehicles, the two companies said on Thursday.
The next-generation battery will deliver higher energy density, smaller packaging and faster charging capabilities for both companies' future products, mainly for the North American market.
GM and Honda already have formed a manufacturing joint venture to produce an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system by 2020.
