GE: sells a GE Capital business to Starwood

(CercleFinance.com) - GE today announced that it has reached an agreement with Starwood Property Trust to sell the Project Finance Debt Business of its GE Energy Financial Services business, which is valued at approximately 2.
6 billion dollars.

The divested business includes senior secured debt in thermal electricity, renewable energy and midstream assets. About twenty investment professionals dedicated to this business will be transferred to Starwood Property Trust.

The conglomerate explains that this transaction is part of its strategy to reduce the asset base of its financial arm GE Capital. It is subject to the usual regulatory requirements and is expected to be finalised in the third quarter of 2018.
