Ford: 17.1% drop in US sales last month

1% drop in sales in the United States in December on Wednesday, albeit with the group prefering to focus on progress made in terms of electric vehicles.

The US carmaker said it sold a total of 173,740 vehicles over the past month, compared with 209,520 a year earlier.

In the last three months of the year, Ford's sales nevertheless rose by 26.8% sequentially (relative to Q3), to 508,451 units, which makes it the only US car maker to have exceeded the 500,000 registration threshold in the fourth quarter.

In a statement, the group highlights the commercial success of the Mustang Mach-E, which enables it to occupy second place in the electric vehicle market in the United States, behind Tesla.
