Ford: 17.7% drop in US sales in September

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday Ford reported a 17.
7% y-o-y drop in sales in the US in September.

The US carmaker said it sold 156,614 vehicles last month, compared with 190,233 in the same period last year.

The decline reached 20.9% for its top of the range Lincoln brand.

By vehicle category, the drop was over 80% for passenger cars and 22.6% for pick-ups and vans.

Sales of 4x4s or "SUVs" rose by more than 3%.

With 156,614 units, Ford says however, that it was the leading car group in the US in September in terms of sales volumes.

Although with 1.4 million vehicles sold YTD, the group remains the second largest player in the US market over the first nine months of the year, significantly behind GM and its 1.8 million deliveries.
