Facebook: new branches for 2Africa submarine cable

(CercleFinance.com) - Orange has announced that the 2Africa consortium (a consortium comprising Orange, China Mobile International, Facebook, MTN GlobalConnect, stc, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone and WIOCC) will add four new branches to the 2Africa cable.


These branches will extend 2Africa's connectivity to the Seychelles, Comoros and Angola and create a second landing station in the southern region of Nigeria. This will be in addition to the recently announced extension of the cable to the Canary Islands.

Orange said that 2Africa, which will be the world's largest submarine cable project, will provide faster and more reliable internet connectivity to every country served.
