Delta: to participate in recapitalisation of Alitalia

(CercleFinance.com) - According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Delta Air Lines is be part of the consortium of investors that will participate in the restructuring of the capital of the struggling Italian airline, Alitalia.


The US carrier is preparing to invest 120 million euros therein to take a 12% stake.

Delta would therefore put the finishing touches on Alitalia's new round of financing, which, first and foremost, will include, the Italian national railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato and the Atlantia concession group, with 36.5% each. The Italian state would hold the remaining 15%, the paper reports.

These changes in the group's capital structure would be accompanied by a drastic restructuring of Alitalia.
