Boeing: creates team to minimize air travel health risks

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing said that it has named former executive Mike Delaney to lead a team that will be responsible for developing new solutions to help minimize air travel health risks amid the Covid-19 pandemic.


The so-called "Confident Travel Initiative" team will work with airlines, regulators, passengers, infectious disease experts and behavioral specialists to establish industry-recognized safety recommendations.

For example, the team will advise operators on approved disinfectants that are compatible with the airplane flight decks and cabins, testing other sanitizers, Boeing said.

In its statement, Boeing emphasized that the air filtration systems on its planes have similar filtering capacities to those used in hospitals and industrial clean rooms, being 99.9% effective at removing viruses and bacteria.

Mike Delaney was previously responsible for all commercial airplane development.
