Boeing: turbulent times in 2019

(CercleFinance.com) - This was indeed expected with the 737 MAX saga and it has now been confirmed: Boeing had a tricky time in Q4 2019, which was also the case throughout the rest of the year - for the same reason.

As a result, on Wednesday the American aviation giant published a loss per share (in non-GAAP data), of 2.33 dollars. This indeed hurts when we compare this "performance" with (positive) EPS of the same period in 2018, which reached 5.48 dollars. It is indeed worrying, when we realise that analysts were on average expecting EPS of 1.28 dollar.

Likewise, over the period, revenues slumped from 28.3 billion dollars to 17.9 billion dollars.

The results of a 2019, which is clearly one to forget for Boeing... Revenues of 76.6 billion dollars, a far cry from the 101.1 billion dollars posted last year, and a loss per share of 3.47 dollars, compared to EPS of 16.01 dollars in 2018. Above all, the bottom line is in the red, at -636 million dollars. This is the first time Boeing has made a lost since 1997...
