Apple: App Store had record holiday season
(CercleFinance.com) - Apple shares were up slightly on Friday, rising 1% to 174.
8 dollars, after the tech giant said its App Store had a record-breaking holiday season.
The Cupertino, California-based company said that New Year's day set a new all-time high, with 300 million dollars worth of purchases in one day.
During the week starting on Christmas Eve, customers spent over 890 million in purchases or downloaded apps from the online store in the seven-day period.
On a darker side, Apple admitted that the two recently uncovered ARM and Intel-based security breaches, known by the friendly names of "Meltdown" and "Spectre", were affecting all Mac systems and iOS devices.
However, the firm said it has already released mitigations to help defend against Meltdown and that it plans to release patches to help defend against Spectre, while continuing developing and testing further mitigations.
