Amazon: to pay over 500 million dollars in staff bonuses

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon said it would pay special cash bonuses totaling over 500 million dollars to its front-line employees as the US tech giant enters the busy holiday season.


The Seattle-based company said US operations staff employed from 1 to 31 December will qualify for a bonus of 300 dollars for full-time employees, and 150 dollars for part-time employees.

Combined with other holiday incentives, Amazon is paying 750 million dollars in additional pay for its front-line hourly workforce in the current quarter, it said.

The announcement brings special bonuses and incentives for global teams to over 2.5 billion dollars in 2020, the online retailer said, which already paid a 500 million dollar "thank you" bonus earlier this year.
