Amazon: enjoys a 'record-breaking' 2019 holiday season

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon said it shipped billions of items worldwide this holiday season, which the top online retailer called "record-breaking," prompting its shares to jump by almost 4.
5% yesterday on the Nasdaq.

Customers bought tens of millions of Amazon devices over the season, the US online retailer said in a statement, without providing specific numbers.

Some of the best-selling products and brands this holiday season were the home assistant Echo Dot, streaming device Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, and compact smart display Echo Show 5, it said.

In the US, toys, fashion, home and beauty categories represented more than half a billion total items ordered, the company said.

This holiday season Amazon added more than 250,000 full and part-time seasonal jobs, with the company now employing 750,000 employees worldwide, it added.
