Amazon: EU Commission opens in-depth probe into data use
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission on Wednesday said it had opened an in-depth investigation to assess Amazon's use of sensitive data from independent retailers.
The executive arm of the EU wants to know if the US retail giant's use of data from retailers who sell on its marketplace was in breach of competition rules.
The Commission said that based on preliminary fact-finding, Amazon—which continuously collects data about the activity on its platform—appears to use competitively sensitive information.
