Tele2: resumes dividend payments

(CercleFinance.com) - Tele2 said on Wednesday that it would resume dividend payments after the Nordic telecom group faired "relatively well" in the second quarter.


The Swedish operator - which suspended its payouts in April - said it would pay an extraordinary dividend of 3.50 Swedish kronor per share in October.

The move comes as the company saw its revenue slip just 2% to 6.7 billion Swedish kronor on an organic basis in the second quarter.

Its net profit from total operations fell to 900 million Swedish kronor, 1.2 billion Swedish kronor lower compared to the second quarter of 2019 as net profit last year included capital gains from the divestment of its Kazakhstan business.

Tele2 shares were up 3.6% on the Nasdaq Nordic market. They have still fallen by 7% so far this year.
