SAS: September traffic down 78%

(CercleFinance.com) - Scandinavian airline SAS said on Wednesday that its traffic fell by over 78% in September, as the Covid-19 pandemic continued to negatively impact travel.

The airline, which is owned by Sweden, Norway and Denmark, said it carried just 595,000 passengers last month, down from 2.9 million in the same month a year ago.

Its passenger load factor - a measure of how the carrier fills its planes - was down by 41.5 percentage points to 35.8%, following a capacity reduction of 73% compared to the same period last year.

In its statement, SAS said that demand for domestic travel continues be "stronger" than for European and Intercontinental traffic.

Yet, the shares were down 5% on the Nasdaq Nordic market after these figures were published.
