SAS: receives first of 8 Airbus A350s

(CercleFinance.com) - SAS said it has received the first of the eight Airbus A350s that it has ordered, as the Scandinavian airline extends the renewal of its fleet.


Each of these double-aisle planes can take up to 300 travellers and crew, which cuts CO2 emissions by up to 30%.

The first A350 will enter service at the end of January. It will be based in Copenhagen and will operate on seven routes, including Chicago, Beijing, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and San Francisco.

In all, as a part the modernization of the short and long-haul fleet, SAS will take delivery of 80 newAirbus A320neo, five Airbus A330 enhanced, 8 Airbus A350, and three Airbus A321LR by the end of 2023.

This Monday SAS also announced a direct route to Tokyo Haneda from Copenhagen.
