SAS: first new Airbus A321LR to enter service next year

(CercleFinance.com) - The first of three new A321LRs, a narrow-bodied aircraft suitable for long distances, will enter service in the SAS fleet in September 2020, the Scandinavian airline said on Friday.

The new aircraft, which is designed to fly longer distances than the standard A321neo, will also cut the company's climate-impacting emissions, with a carbon footprint that is approximately 15%-18% lower than the previous generation.

SAS has set a target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 25% by 2030.

The A321LR will enter into service in September 2020 on the Copenhagen-Boston route.

New routes will gradually be communicated later in 2020, as the aircraft has enough range to reach northeast US, Canada, the Middle East and India from Scandinavia.
