Telia: to sell international carrier unit

(CercleFinance.com) - Telia will sell its international carrier business to Swedish infrastructure fund Polhem Infra, in a deal valued at about 2.
5 billion Swedish kronor (235 million euros), the Nordic telecom operator said on Tuesday.

The network unit - which spans across Europe, North America, and Asia - generated sales of 5.4 billion Swedish kronor (515 million euros) last year, the company said in a statement.

Following the disposal, Telia has decided to propose to pay an additional dividend of 0.65 Swedish kronor per share, which would result in a total dividend per share of 2.45 Swedish kronor for the financial year 2019, which is the level that was originally announced in January.

At closing, the deal is expected to generate a capital gain of approximately 7 billion Swedish kronor (670 million euros), Telia said.

The shares listed on the Nasdaq Nordic market were up over 5% on the news.
