Equinor: towards joint acquisition of Triton Power
(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor and SSE Thermal, a Scottish energy distribution company, have announced their intention to acquire the electricity company Triton Power from Energy Capital Partners (ECP) for a total consideration of 341 million pounds, shared equally between the buyers.
Triton Power operates, amongst other things, the Saltend power station in East Yorkshire (northern England), a plant with 1.2 GW of installed capacity operating a conventional combined cycle turbine (CCGT) fuelled by natural gas.
Equinor and SSE Thermal plan to upgrade the plant to use up to 30% hydrogen from 2027, aiming to eventually increase this to 100% hydrogen.
The transaction is expected to be completed in September.
