Equinor: phase 3 production of Troll project starts

(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor today announced on Friday evening that it has started production of the Troll project (phase 3) in the North Sea.

Recoverable volumes are estimated at some 247 billion m³ of gas - or 2.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

The new wells will therefore extend the life of the Troll A platform to 2050 and beyond, Equinor says.

Troll Phase 3 is one of the most cost-effective, low-carbon projects in Equinor's history, it added.

This is because the project can use existing structures - pipelines, processing plant, etc. - which reduces its environmental impact.

The annual export volume from Troll is equivalent to about 8% of the EU's gas consumption.
