Equinor: to launch clean power plants with SSE Thermal

(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor and SSE Thermal today unveiled plans to jointly develop two low carbon power stations in the UK's Humber region.


The first is Keadby 3, a 900MW natural gas-fired power station that would be one of the first in the UK to be equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology. The other plant, Keadby Hydrogen, would deliver 1800 MW and be the world's first 100%-hydrogen power plant.

These plans would support the UK's transition to carbon neutrality and accelerate the decarbonisation of the Humber region, which is one of the UK's biggest industrial clusters.

Both power stations would form a 'clean energy hub' generating thousands of skilled jobs and revitalising a key industrial heartland.
