TomTom: two new charging interfaces for electric vehicles

(CercleFinance.com) - TomTom, the Dutch specialist in cartographic systems and navigation tools, on Tuesday launched two new programming interfaces (APIs) to optimise journeys for drivers of electric vehicles.


This morning the Amsterdam-based group unveiled the "Long Distance EV Routing" algorithm, which enables cars to calculate their journey time between two points when the distance travelled requires more than one recharge.

The interface determines which charging points to prioritise and estimates the arrival time, taking into account the time required for charging.

Meanwhile, the "EV Charging Stations Availability" API provides information on the availability of charging stations according to the proposed connection ports, thus saving drivers worry about whether a connection will be available or not.

Both programming interfaces are available in self-service format for developers who want to use them.
