Ahold Delhaize: quarterly EPS slightly above estimates

40 euro for the first quarter of 2019, up 8.8% at constant exchange rates and one cent higher than the consensus, while its underlying operating margin was stable at 4.4%.

The Belgian-Dutch food retailer, with a strong presence in the United States, saw its revenues rise by 6.3% to 15.9 billion euros, with a 1.5% increase at constant exchange rates, penalised by a calendar effect related to Easter.

For the current year, Ahold Delhaize has confirmed that it expects an underlying operating margin that is slightly lower than that of 2018, as well as low single-digit growth in underlying EPS.
