FCA: European car sales jump 9.8% in August.

(CercleFinance.com) - FCA sales kept rising in Europe last month as the carmaker benefitted from the revival of Italian brand Alfa Romeo.

The group, which owns the Fiat and Chrysler brands, said that group sales jumped 9.8% year-on-year to nearly 52,700 vehicles in August after a 1.4% rise in July.

In comparison, the growth in the European industry was only 5.5%.

The Fiat brand posted growth of 10.2% year-on-year and Lancia/Chrysler recorded an 11.3% increase in August sales.

Note that Alfa Romeo posted a particularly strong performance over the summer months, with European sales soaring 41.3% in August, driven by the success of the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio SUV.
