Unilever: buys Los Angeles-based vitamin maker

(CercleFinance.com) - Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant Unilever said that it will reinforce its presence on the nutrition and food supplements market by acquiring SmartyPants Vitamins, a Los Angeles-based company.


Unilever, the European consumer products giant, which markets Dove soap and Axe body sprays, amongst many other products, said late on Wednesday that the deal complements its portfolio of brands such as malted milk drink Horlicks, nutrition line OLLY and Italian personal care business Equilibra.

Founded in 2011, SmartyPants makes supplements from premium, non‐GMO certified ingredients and sustainably sourced bio‐available nutrients. Its products are free from artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners and preservatives.

The financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
