Unilever: names Maersk's ex-CEO Andersen as chairman

(CercleFinance.com) - Unilever has named Nils Andersen, the former chief executive of Maersk and Carlsberg, to replace its board chairman Marijn Dekkers who is retiring with immediate effect, the group said on Wednesday.


Dekkers has decided to step down so that he can focus on his responsibilities as founder and chairman of investment and advisory firm Novalis LifeSciences, the consumer goods giant said.

However, he will continue to serve as a non-executive director on the board.

Andersen - who has served on Unilever's board since 2015 - was previously CEO of Danish shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk from 2007 to 2016 and beer maker Carlsberg from 2001 to 2007.
