TomTom: collaborates with Delphi on intelligent driving

(CercleFinance.com) - TomTom is collaborating with US auto parts maker Delphi to help powertrains become predictive, the Dutch navigation firm said on Friday.


Under the terms of the deal, Delphi's vehicle powertrain control system will be enriched with TomTom's maps "so it knows what's up ahead," the company said.

The location technology specialist also said that it will collaborate with Japanese automotive components maker Denso on its software platform for autonomous vehicles.

TomTom's high-definition map will work in combination with Denso's cameras and radars to power localisation and path planning functions for autonomous driving system, it said.

TomTom's maps for automated driving currently power over half a million automated vehicles on the road.

All these announcements have been made ahead of the CES, which will start in Las Vegas next week.
