Aegon: creates international unit to accelerate growth

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch insurer Aegon has created an international division as it seeks to accelerate growth and further leverage cross-border synergies.


The company said on Monday it will bring together its businesses in Southern and Eastern Europe and Asia under the new Aegon International unit, which will be established on 1 January 2020.

The division will be led by Marco Keim, who is currently heading the group's activities in Continental Europe.

This means that the role of CEO of Aegon Asia will cease to exist. Andrew Byrne, the current CEO of Aegon Asia, will hence leave the company in 2020.

As part of this shake-up, Maarten Edixhoven, the CEO of Aegon the Netherlands, will now report directly to Aegon CEO Alex Wynaendts and will be appointed to the group's management board.
