Airbus: an A330NEO 'cargo' for Amazon and UPS?

(CercleFinance.com) - According to Bloomberg, Airbus Group plans to develop a "cargo" version of the A330neo, whose sales are taking time to kick off, having been incited by potential clients such as Amazon and United Parcel Service (UPS).

For the moment, only 214 re-engined ("neo") versions of the A330 have been ordered. The European aircraft manufacturer could thus try to take advantage of the rebound in air freight, which is just leaving a decade of contraction. According to Bloomberg, Amazon and UPS would want Airbus to "lengthen" the A330-900's fuselage to increase its capacity.

Currently, the production of the cargo version of the 767, the main aircraft proposed by Boeing on this segment, is limited, while the US player is concentrating its efforts on a 767 tanker, although this is over a year behind schedule, Bloomberg adds.
