STMicroelectronics: deal with Metalenz bears fruit

(CercleFinance.com) - STMicroelectronics on Thursday announced the marketing of the first technology resulting from its collaboration with the US start-up Metalenz.


The chipmaker said it has integrated the meta-lens developed by the Boston-based company into its latest sensor, the VL53L8.

Specifically, Metalenz's flat surface lens has replaced some of the optical components that were previously in FlightSense, ST's time-of-flight technology-based module.

FlightSense technology, which is used in smartphones, drones, robots and cars, has sold over 1.7 billion units to date.
