STMicro: collaborates with Rosenberger in connectivity

(CercleFinance.com) - STMicro today announced that it is collaborating with Rosenberger, a maker of optical connectivity solutions, on a contactless connector for industrial, medical and other high-speed applications.


Based on 60GHz wireless technology, the device will enable full-duplex data exchange (up to 6Gbps) while providing immunity to motion, vibration, rotation and contaminants such as moisture or dust.

STMicro says that the new connector could pave the way to a new range of medical and industrial applications that will be free from the constraints of physical connections.
