STMicro: collaboration agreement with Politecnico

(CercleFinance.com) - STMicroelectronics and Politecnico di Milano have announce a 5-year collaboration agreement to create a joint research centre dedicated to advanced materials for sensors (STEAM).


The centre aims to offer professors, researchers and doctors the unique opportunity in Italy to access the full range of resources available to imagine, design and develop micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology.

The agreement also provides for an upgrade of the Politecnico Institute's infrastructure with, as a first step, the construction of a state-of-the-art 200mm pilot manufacturing line to complement the current 150mm line in the PoliFab clean room.
