DSM: DSP unit launches generic Atorvastatin tablets

(CercleFinance.com) - DSM Sinochem Pharmaceuticals, a 50/50 joint venture of Royal DSM, this month launched its generic Atorvastatin drug product within the European Union, expanding its statins portfolio.


Atorvastatin is used primarily in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and hyperlipidemia, commonly known as high cholesterol, the number one cause of death worldwide.

In a statement, DSP says it plans to become "a full-service generics pharmaceutical company."

DSP is producing Atorvastatin in a state-of-the-art facility based in India.
