Philips: creates Taiwan's digitized pathology department

(CercleFinance.com) - Philips announces on Thursday that it will create - in collaboration with the Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TPVGH) - a biopsy service based solely on digital technologies.


Pathological review of patient tissue has historically been done using a microscope. However, using the Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution with the Ultra-Fast Scanner (UFS), TPVGH will now be able to digitize tissue samples so that pathologists can review, interpret, analyze, and share digital images.

Cancer is currently the leading cause of death in Taiwan.
