Heineken: seals long-term strategic partnership in China

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch brewer Heineken and Hong Kong-based investment company China Resources have signed a final agreement on Monday to establish a long-term strategic partnership in China, the world's largest beer market.


Under the terms of the deal, Heineken will take a 40% stake in the holding company that controls CR Beer, the market leader in China.

In exchange, China Resources will acquire the equivalent of a 0.9% stake in Heineken for 464 million euros, or 88.66 euros per share. The agreement also includes a trademark license agreement for the Heineken brand in China.

The partnership will result in a net investment of close to 2 billion euros by Heineken.

The transaction is expected to be completed in 2019.
