Degiro: sharp rise in number of new accounts

(CercleFinance.com) - Degiro says that the start of 2020 has exceeded all expectations.


In the months of January and February this year, Degiro registered 51,385 new accounts (23,762 in January and 27,623 in February). This represents a 144% increase from the same period last year.

Degiro highlights the increase in the number of young investors. Out of these 51,385 new investors, 75% are under 40 years old. This percentage has almost doubled from 5 years ago, when this age group represented 40% of Degiro's total clientele.

In addition, due to the high number of new customers and increased market volatility, Degiro processed 2.36 million transactions in January 2020 (53% more than in January 2019) and 2.94 million transactions in February 2020 (95% more than in February 2019).
